5@5 with Camerata (Ep86 - Marian Heckenberg and Alex Raineri - Schubert - Erlkönig)
It's Friday and that means another new episode of 5@5 with Camerata - and boy, do we have a dramatic one for you!
Artistic Associate, Marian Heckenberg, has arranged today's piece, Erlkönig, for double bass and is accompanied by renowned pianist, Alex Raineri.
Erlkönig originally is a poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe which depicts the death of a child assailed by a supernatural being, the Erlking, a kind of demon or king of the fairies. It was originally written by Goethe in 1782. The poem has often been set to music, with Franz Schubert's rendition, his Opus 1 (D. 328), being the best known, and the one which Marian has arranged for her performance today.
