A great pleasure to have contributed some scales and rumbles to Warwick Fyfe’s performance of this powerful aria from Beethoven’s Fidelio. Another excellent chapter in Opera Queensland’s ‘An Aria A Day’ project.
Tomorrow (August 1st) the Brisbane Music Festival features the Southern Cross Soloists and i'm so excited to be sharing the stage of my music studio with a few of my colleagues/friends from the ensemble Jonathan Henderson, Tania Frazer and Alan Smith. Hope you can join us for a program of fabulous French music!
Mourning the death of her father, Donna Anna begs Don Ottavio, her betrothed, to stop talking about marriage until she has time to grieve in this aria beautifully and painfully brought to life by soprano Elizabeth Lewis.
The libretto for Mozart’s 'Don Giovanni' was billed as a dramma giocoso, a common designation of its time that denotes the fusing of serious and comic action. However, Mozart described the work as an opera buffa. Although sometimes classified as comic, it blends comedy, melodrama and supernatural elements.
